Pepperdine University Students Pay Courtesy Call On DCJ

On Friday June 2, 2023, the Deputy Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Richard Buteera, hosted 12Pepperdine University students who will be on internship at the the different courts.
The students were led by the Pepperdine University Director of East Africa Programmes Mr Scott Leist.
The purpose of their visit was to understand how Courts in Uganda and the application of Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms.
The Deputy Chief Justice shared how working under the supervision of Chief Justice Emeritus, Hon. Justice Samuel Wako Wambuzi impacted his career life. Noting that time-keeping, choice of words in writing are some of the things he learnt from the retired Chief Justice.
When asked about what he loves the most about his work, the Deputy Chief Justice said it was the decisions delivered as expected by the parties.
The students thanked the Deputy Chief Justice for sharing his experiences with them.
Mukono High Court Hosts Students
Prior to visiting the DCJ, the group were hosted by Hon. Justice David Matovu the Head of Mukono High Court Circuit at the Court.
The students interacted with the Judge and were later taken on a guided tour of the Court premises.
From Mukono High Court, the students headed to the Family Division where they held a meeting with the Head of the Division, Hon. Justice John Eudes Keitirima.
